I am not sure how to begin this blog post with an interesting topic about walking and actually living fully by faith and not by what I see in the natural.

I want to explore this topic a lot more because, let’s be real, this triggers many of us, especially as Christians, about what it truly means to trust God even when we can’t see the road ahead of us.

My season of life looks different. I’m in my early 40s, and for most of us, when we get to that age, we sometimes start to panic. If we haven’t achieved most of our goals and dreams by then, we start to get into doubt mode a lot more often than we want to.

We panic because somehow we believe that we may be running out of time, we missed the mark somewhere, and vice versa. The never-ending struggles seem to get louder in these years.

However, for many of us, if we don’t check our thought process and find resolution in the process, we can find ourselves going down a wrong path of feeling like a failure, or battling disappointment, frustration, or anxiety.

The list goes on and on about who, what, where, or how I did not do this, miss this, or fail to navigate this well.

I am here to share more insights with you about walking by faith each day in total surrender to the time, season, and process of your life unapologetically.

Have you stopped living by faith and is more shifted by the circumstances around you? Please feel free to add to my list, or ask your questions or concerns below. I would be happy to help you!

“Faith is a muscle that has to be continually built in order to reap the rewards of a faith filled life. If we don’t exercuse this muscle, we will find it more difficult to trust God in the everyday life.”

Fighting Fear

Have you been afraid to achieve many of your goals and dreams? Have you somehow placed them in a box you peek into every now and again but take no action towards accomplishing those goals?

This shows me that your fears are by far more louder than your faith. You have placed the more dangerous feeling over the one that brings you peace.

If you have realized that this is happening to you, then the goal is to come out of alignment with fear and walk more in faith each day.

Faith has to be louder than fear in order to walk a faithful, purpose-driven life. If fear is the more dominant emotion, then that will determine what makes most of the decisions in your life.

A faith-focused person will keep moving towards her goals regardless of what they see in the natural. They know that life will have its twists and turns, but it doesn’t mean that they will remain in those seasons.

They are always looking at how to overcome and move past the challenges in order to move towards a better future ahead.

A fear-focused individual will stay stuck in every season of their life because they always see the obstacle first and never do anything to keep moving forward regardless.

They remain stuck and stagnant because they allowed fear to take over. Once that happens, they will use the fear as their way of justifying why they didn’t accomplish something.

Decide which direction you have found yourself in, and once you are aware of that path, you can either keep walking in more faith and confidence, or, if you are the latter, that means you have a decision to make. The faith will either propel you forward, or the fear will keep pushing you backwards.

Making Big Decisions Without Panicking

Have you heard of the term “analysis paralysis”? Some of us are stuck in this toxic cycle that constantly repeats itself day in and day out.

They get stuck in making decisions because, of course, fear again comes to the surface and robs them of the ability to make good decisions about their life, path, and goals.

Have you ever had a decision to make about something, for example, maybe moving to a new place, and you have been feeling the need to move but haven’t made progress to do so, because you feel afraid of making such a huge decision?

You doubt your unction many times, and then before you know it, you decide to settle for less than your best because you didn’t think it was important to make that crucial decision.

This is how a lot of us walk away from a better version of ourselves, or a better life and opportunity on the horizon for us. We allowed fear masked as “being careful” to fight against what we know to be the right direction for us.

Now I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be careful in decision-making and that we should just live a care-free life. That’s not what this blog is about. We still have to make good, sound decisions at the end of the day.

However, if you know deep down that you’re called to enter a new place or space and it has constantly been on your mind and in your thought process for some time, then that may mean you are stuck behind that decision.

My suggestion is to write it down clearly and do an analysis to see if there is any hidden fear behind your decision-making process.

Once you are aware of the hidden fears, for example, I fear quitting my job and having to find another job. That is a valid fear. You are afraid of the unknown.

However, maybe giving yourself time, space, and grace to make a more solid plan to get yourself from one place to the next is key and also more proactive than just brushing the unction off.

Exercise Your Faith Muscle

I can tell you this much truth! Faith is and will always be an exercise. You will have to flex your muscles. It’s like going to the gym and trying to have biceps magically appear after maybe one week of intense exercise. It’s not going to happen for you.

If you don’t keep a consistent pattern and routine of exercise, those biceps will not appear no matter how much you try. You have to keep working at it until it gets more definition with time.

Then it becomes easier to keep the routine going, and before you know it, you have accomplished the biceps you really wanted in the first place.

Faith is no different. It takes flexing the muscles and putting into practice each time until you get comfortable in the process of trusting God for more of the impossibles in your life.

Life Is A Journey

Life isn’t just about arriving at your required destination, and then all will be well. It wasn’t made that way at all. Life will bring its challenges. We will have them as we journey through for the long run.

It doesn’t mean, however, that we have to accept everything that’s given to us. We don’t have to feel like we can’t make the necessary changes we need to make in order to navigate it better.

Life was meant to be flexible in every way. It wasn’t meant to be lived in just one direction. Society rather teaches us a one-directional way of living. We have to get stable, good-income jobs before we can afford the luxuries of a home or car and so forth.

So we all became trapped in this way of thinking. Now it’s a race for the fittest with the most education and accomplishments, and the list goes on and on and on.

What if instead of chasing what everybody else was doing based on society’s norms and expectations, we went a different route? What if we challenged those belief systems and lived life on our own terms instead?

Many of us stopped dreaming about our own way of life and have somehow adapted to the norms of life. We accepted it as what it’s supposed to be.

Then, when we are not meeting the expectations that the world gives us, we get frustrated with the process, and with time we now realize the life we lived was not our own. It was determined for us. We didn’t know we could choose to live it on our own terms.

The ones who do, we like to say that they are “lucky” to be in that particular place or space or walk in life. It’s not luck that got them there. It’s the faith to step outside of the expectations of society and life on their own terms.

That would be, for instance, the people who choose to give up a 9-to-5 and instead travel the world and work on their own schedule. That’s one example. But I am sure you’ve seen the many others out there that lives life differently.

Those are ones who decided to take a massive leap of faith and to do things differently outside of the norms of society.

Failure Does Not Mean The End

I understand that for some of us, we may have taken some massive leaps of faith and for some reason or the other, we may have failed in the process.

At whatever point you felt like you failed, you start questioning your faith walk. It can also cripple you if you choose to allow that process to define the rest of your journey.

You may have started a business, and it didn’t come to fruition as you would have wanted it to. Does that mean you should never try again at any business opportunities out there? No, it doesn’t mean that you should stop trying.

Failure to me is a necessary step that shows you where you need to assess and maybe tweak or change your direction.

So the business that you thought you failed at might just have needed a missing key step that you didn’t have before, and therefore, instead of dismissing the failure as evidence that you can’t do something right, why not see it as a route recalculation or recalibration on your journey rather than a complete failure.

If you develop that mindset every time you come across an obstacle along your way, then I promise you that nothing would be impossible or far-fetched for you.

Because you would have told fear to take a backseat and faith to keep guiding your path.

I hope that these 5 tips will help you to live by faith each day instead of fear. Once you’re able to navigate this journey well, I can promise you that the endless possibilities that will meet you along the way will be worth the leap of walking a faith-driven life.
